Presentation Synopsis:
Gigabit serial transmission systems are already widely adopted in modern electronic systems, but new and faster standards are constantly in development to meet demand for improved performance and functionality.

Transmission beyond 1Gbit/s creates design challenges that need to be addressed carefully. Signal Integrity (SI) issues such as jitter, noise, crosstalk, reflections and high-frequency losses need to be accurately modelled, simulated and verified in hardware to ensure the design meets specification and is committed to production.

Traditional, sequential, model>validate>prototype>test design methodology has to evolve to address the latest high performance serial designs. A concurrent design platform which encompasses both simulation and measurement in parallel can help guide a project from conception to physical verification.
